The Talent, Data, and Intelligence Team

Okta’s Technology, Data, & Intelligence organization is on a mission to simplify and secure internal operations through automation, analysis, and scale. Our Productivity Engineering team is responsible for developing internal tooling, infrastructure and services that empower Okta employees to work as effectively as possible.  

We work across engineering, data science, security, and internal business teams to deliver automation-powered services that integrate across a wide array of SAAS apps and internally developed infrastructure to Okta. A growing focus for our team has been an investment of cycles into AI agentic platforms, workflow orchestration, and data analytic dashboarding. The Staff Product Designer, AI Opportunity

Reporting to the VP Engineering, Shared Services, we’re building the future of  secure, enterprise-grade AI . We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to join our global AI team and lead the design of both applied AI experiences that transform the way employees work and the platform components that make it easier for developers to build with AI.

This is a senior design role for someone who thrives in complexity, can simplify emerging AI technologies into intuitive interfaces, and enjoys collaborating closely with engineers and product leaders across India and the US.

What you’ll be doing 

• Own the end-to-end design of applied AI use cases — from exploration and ideation to prototypes and polished experiences.
• Shape the developer experience for our Agentic AI platform , designing components, patterns, and workflows that accelerate AI adoption.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, and researchers to define how AI-powered features should look, feel, and function.
• Translate complex AI capabilities (LLMs, RAG pipelines, agent frameworks) into clear, human-centered experiences .
• Build and evolve design systems and reusable patterns for AI experiences across Okta.
• Mentor other designers, sharing best practices for designing with emerging AI technologies.
• Work closely with India- and US-based teams as part of one global design and engineering effort.

What you’ll bring to the role

• 8+ years of product design experience, including significant time working on complex enterprise applications or AI/ML-driven products.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates human-centered design solutions for technical or ambiguous problem spaces.
• Expertise in interaction design, UX, and prototyping ; ability to simplify complex workflows into elegant solutions.
• Experience designing for developer platforms or technical tools is a strong plus.
• Comfortable collaborating with engineers and product managers on cutting-edge AI use cases.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence design direction across global teams.
• Passion for shaping how AI is experienced in secure, enterprise-ready environments.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $188,000—$282,000 USD

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between: $168,000—$252,000 USD
