Job Description

Our Addison electrical transformer design/manufacturer client is looking for a Power Transformer Designer.

The Transformer Designer analyzes client requirements to design and develop custom transformers, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities include performing electrical and thermal calculations, creating technical documentation and drawings, performing CAD modeling, collaborating with manufacturing teams, and supporting testing and troubleshooting efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Analysis: Design various transformer components, including cores and windings, and perform electrical and thermal calculations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, drawings, and other engineering deliverables for transformer designs.
  • Material Selection: Select appropriate conductors and insulating materials for transformer components based on design requirements and performance standards.
  • CAD Modeling & Simulation: Create CAD models and conduct simulations to analyze and optimize transformer designs for efficiency and cost.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible for production and resolve any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Oversee and participate in transformer testing, including routine and special tests, to verify performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in transformer engineering theory, relevant CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), and simulation techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges and propose innovative solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
