Job Description

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery provides skilled nursing care to midwifery clients, private OBs, and patients in Adult Recovery Services and Community Care clinics. The role involves high-risk, high-volume L&D care, including circulating and newborn care, and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The RN will function as a Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum.

Location:Seattle, Washington, United States

Responsibilities:


- Provide care to midwifery clients, private OBs, and patients in Adult Recovery Services and Community Care clinics.
- Function as a Baby Nurse during delivery, providing care to the newborn until transfer to postpartum.
- Circulate during deliveries.
- Provide newborn care, including eye and Vitamin K injections, thighs, and newborn assessments.
- Administer medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate.
- Float to Postpartum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that do Mother/Baby care as needed.
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed.
- Perform electronic fetal monitoring.
- Document patient care and related duties appropriately.

Required Skills & Certifications:


- Active Registered Nurse license.
- BLS and NRP certifications.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a high-acuity and high-pace Labor & Delivery environment.
- Experience with high-risk Labor & Delivery.
- Proof of current NURSYS.
- Must pass clinical review.
- Must have current supervisory references.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:


- ACLS certification.
- AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certification.
- Experience with electronic fetal monitoring.

Special Considerations:


- Unit does not accept first-time travelers.
- Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to float to Postpartum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that do Mother/Baby.
- Must function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum.

Scheduling:
- Schedule is posted every 6 weeks and is based on unit needs.
