Description
The Packing and Crating Specialist is responsible for packing removed aircraft parts into common or specialized containers. If common containers are unavailable, they must be ordered through the Supply system, built on site, or contracted out in accordance with the Spires website.
This is a 6-month position .
Key Responsibilities
Review the “save list” before airframe disposal and ensure authorized containers are available for parts.
Build crates for large parts (wings, stabilizers, landing gear) and boxes for smaller parts.
Apply knowledge of TMO-type systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, and established guidelines.
Understand organizational needs, including performing duties outside the normal scope of Supply work.
Demonstrate analytical ability to define problems, collect necessary data, and recommend or take appropriate action.
Work as a key member of a small team with cross-utilization training to accomplish tasks outside normal categories.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Site Manager.
Required Education / Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Prior qualified/certified packing/crating craftsman with a minimum of 5 years of experience .

Experience working on small teams performing F-16 modifications and refurbishment, including cross-functional tasks.
Ability to obtain/build or provide specifications to outside crate builders for aircraft part containers (component boxing experience required).
A valid state driver’s license.
U.S. citizenship.
Compensation & Benefits
This full-time, non-exempt, non-union position offers:
$53.50 per hour.
$3.93 per hour Health & Welfare benefit.

Must be able to frequently lift/carry items up to 50 lbs; heavier items with assistance.

Normal color/depth perception required; no record of emotional instability.
Work may occur in or near hangars/flight lines with moderate to high noise levels.
Exposure to varying conditions such as heat, cold, and wind.
May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
Environments include offices, hangars, and flightlines.
