**Forklift Operator - Miramar - 1st Shift**
**Job Description**
As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for using a sit-down forklift to pick and pull orders, as well as load and unload trucks daily. You will receive orders from customers, pick the orders, and prepare them for loading onto customer trucks. A typical day involves 60% forklift work and 40% manual labor, with over 100 customers visiting for will-call requests. You will need to read instructions, understand procedure manuals, and assure that equipment and work areas are kept clean. Maintaining a full understanding of all products is essential, and general labor tasks include wrapping products, picking products by hand off the pallet, rearranging the warehouse, and ensuring the work area is clean. Customer interaction is part of the role, making customer service skills a valuable asset.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate a sit-down forklift to pick and pull orders.
+ Load and unload trucks on a daily basis.
+ Receive customer orders, pick and prepare them for loading.
+ Perform general labor tasks such as wrapping products and picking products by hand.
+ Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area.
+ Understand and follow procedure manuals.
+ Interact with customers and provide customer service.
+ Ensure warehouse area meets safety standards.
**Essential Skills**
+ Forklift operation experience, preferably certified.
+ Material handling skills.
+ General labor experience.
+ Inventory management skills.
+ Loading and unloading proficiency.
+ Experience in a fast-paced environment.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ 1-2+ years of warehouse experience.
+ Prior experience with construction or building materials is a plus.
+ Experience with commercial doors, frames, or hardware is highly preferred.
+ Strong self-discipline, work ethic, and ambition.
+ Ability to work well with a team.

**Work Environment**
The work environment is a construction site materials warehouse, exposed to both inside and outside elements with overhead awnings. The warehouse consists of 10 members and 1 supervisor, with over 50 people on site. Work hours are Monday to Friday starting at 8:00 AM during training, with the facility open from 5 AM to 5 PM. The dress code requires steel-toed boots, jeans (no shorts), and a plain T-shirt.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
