POSITION DESCRIPTION

HGL is seeking a senior-level Environmental Engineering Manager to lead our project site's engineering department located in St. Louis, MO. Our St. Louis office is dedicated to supporting the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Formerly Utilized Site Remediation Program (FUSRAP) involved in the cleanup of low-level radiological contamination.

Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The person hired for this role will be responsible for:
  • Directing, managing and leading the project engineering team responsible for remediation work plans supporting environmental remediation activities, including soil excavation, site infrastructure, creek restoration, utility modifications and waste management.
  • Collaborate with project management and engineers, geologists, CAD/GIS specialists and other technical staff in the development of studies/strategies for remediation of contaminated soil.
  • Develop engineering studies, investigation and remedial workplans, civil and environmental designs, and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the Engineering Department team.
  • Project schedule development and technical report review.
  • Ensuring project and quality objectives are met.


In addition, the candidate will be responsible for working with hydrogeologists, civil surveyors, and other technical staff to oversee development of designs, drawings and figures associated with technical documents for the USACE.

Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:
  • BS in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related academic field (note that MS may reduce the years of experience expected)
  • 15 plus years of engineering/project management experience on environmental remediation projects for USACE/DoD and/or USEPA clients in lead role; including a minimum of 5 years experience with directly managing remediation teams.
  • PE, PG, or PMP Certification.
  • Experience in the development of technical drawings, details, and specifications for civil components of environmental construction projects.
  • Experience reviewing grading plans, cross-sections, and calculation of earthwork volumes.
  • Experience working under detailed quality assurance/quality control programs.
  • The ability to create and adhere to an accurate construction schedule and maintain operations within budget and time constraints.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) and Ganttic chart scheduling.


WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT

  • MS in Engineering, Geology or related academic field
  • Direct relevant experience that demonstrates a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation, and creative problem solving.

The salary range for this position ranges from $105,303-$163,220/year. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
