As a Cybersecurity Specialist Advisor , you’ll provide advanced cyber defense, compliance, and risk management expertise across FAA automation platforms that power the NAS, including ERAMS, STARS, ATOP, MEARTS, TFDM, TFMS, AAC, and others. You’ll be at the forefront of defending these mission-critical systems against evolving threats while ensuring secure design, integration, and sustainment.

This is more than a cybersecurity role — it’s an opportunity to safeguard national infrastructure by applying Risk Management Framework (RMF) principles, influencing cyber strategy, and shaping the resiliency of FAA operations. Depending on your experience, positions are available at the mid, senior, and lead levels.

What You’ll Do

  • Protect FAA’s mission-critical automation systems from evolving cyber threats through proactive defense strategies.

  • Apply RMF principles to assess, monitor, and mitigate risks across large-scale, complex aviation programs.

  • Provide hands-on expertise in secure design, implementation, and sustainment of FAA systems.

  • Track, evaluate, and counter current and emerging cyber threats, tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).

  • Support system accreditation, compliance audits, and continuous monitoring efforts.

  • Collaborate with FAA leaders, engineers, and system integrators to embed cybersecurity into the foundation of NAS modernization.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance. 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience or Masters degree and 10 years or Associate’s degree and 14 years experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience. 
  • Experience providing cybersecurity and/or cyber defense support to large, complex organizations.
  • Working knowledge of current and emerging cyber threats and corresponding defense TTPs.
  • Familiarity with RMF and its application to mission-critical systems.
  • Ability to Obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Exposure to FAA NAS Automation systems or other large-scale automation environments.

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
